WHY VOLUNTEER ?

• to provide a structure for your day
• as a stepping stone to paid employment
How much time will it take?
• as much or as little as you want
• several days per week - a couple of hours per month - a one off project! Whatever suits you!
• Volunteering can be done in the daytime, evening or at weekends
What opportunities are there ?
• with children
• with the elderly
• with young people
• with animals
• in conservation or gardening
• in hospital
• in the community
• in charity shops
• giving advice and counselling
• office work / administration
• and much more!
Expenses
Most organisations will pay out of pocket expenses and should provide insurance cover.
Will it in any way affect my benefits ?
Unemployment Benefit
Unpaid voluntary work will not normally stop you getting unemployment benefit or affect the amount you receive provided you remain available for work.
Income Support
Unpaid voluntary work will not normally stop you getting income support or affect the amount you receive provided you remain available for work.
What we will do
• we will advise and support individuals undertaking voluntary work
• we will help you to find voluntary work of your choice
• we will follow up volunteers to iron out any problems where necessary

You need to register with us by completing the Volunteer Registration Form which can be done on-line (attach form). Please read the Guidelines For Volunteers document before completing the form (attach guidelines).
If you cannot complete the form on-line then please visit us at the office during our opening hours or phone to have a pack sent out to you.
Once we receive your completed form, we will search our database for opportunities which match your requirements. Please be as specific as possible when completing the form as we have hundreds of opportunities to search from.
