WCVS provides a strong voice for the local voluntary sector: liaising with Watford Borough Council over grant programmes, negotiating and upholding the local Compact, representing local voluntary organistions in Hertfordshire and the East of England region, and sitting on the One Watford group that oversees the Local Strategic Plan for Watford.

 

WCVS are members of Volunteering England, the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action, the Hertfordshire Infrastructure Consortium, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations, the Watford Compact Group, the Hertfordshire Compact Group, and Hertfordshire CVS.

 

More than 100 local voluntary groups are already members of the Watford CVS. Member organisations gain access to a comprehensive range of support and discounted access to all WCVS services. All members receive:

 

·         their own micro website;

·         WCVS News and other regular mailings;

·         priority booking and a 20% discount for WCVS training events;

·         priority booking and a 20% discount for use of WCVS meeting rooms and equipment hire;

·         registering volunteering opportunities on the national volunteering website via the Watford Volunteer Centre;

·         membership of the Voluntary Sector Alliance;

·         free help and guidance on fundraising, including identifying potential funders and making specific applications;

·         a free half-day “health check” agains recognised quality assurance standards;

·         membership of appropriate WCVS forums and professional networks.
